Working with sitestyles

The option of entering multiple sitestyles, through the 'sitestyle' menu, has the following potentialities:
  • Simple site
One sitestyle for all pages, which can easily be changed periodically.

  • Complex site
Multiple sitestyles to distinct parts of the website. Pages are linked up with a fixed sitestyle.

  • Open site
Site where visitors have the possibility to choose in whát sitestyle the content shall be displayed.

Simple site

One sitestyle for all pages, which can easily be changed periodically.

Required input in the 'Defaults' menu:
Default sitestyle:Select a sitestyle

Required input in the 'Page' menu:
All pages:No selection of a specific sitestyle

All pages will automatically be displayed in the sitestyle defined in the 'Defaults' menu.

Changing the sitestyle:
By only selecting another sitestyle as default sitestyle (or by modifying the sitestyle concerned), all pages will be displayed in that other sitestyle.

Complex site

Multiple sitestyles to distinct parts of the website. Part of the pages or all pages are linked up with a fixed sitestyle.

By using multiple sitestyles you can tailor the look of parts of the site to different target groups of visitors. As well, you can skip parts of the webpage, e.g. the news area, in certain parts of the site to create more space for the other content.

Required input in the 'Defaults' menu:
Default sitestyle:Select a sitestyle

Required input in the 'Page' menu:
Standard pages:No selection of a specific sitestyle
Deviating pages:Select a sitestyle

All standard pages will automatically be displayed in the sitestyle defined in the 'Defaults' menu. The deviating pages will have a fixed sitestyle.
Obviously, it is possible to give áll pages a fixed sitestyle.

Changing the sitestyles:
By selecting another sitestyle as default sitestyle, all standard pages will be displayed in that other sitestyle. For changing the sitestyle of deviating pages, you have to make another selection for each page individually.

Open site

Site where visitors have the possibility to choose in whát sitestyle the content shall be displayed.

This allows you, amongst others, to include sitestyles adjusted for use by visually handicapped visitors.

Required input in the 'Defaults' and 'Page' menus:

The above described simple and complex sites can both be transformed into an open site.
The required input in these menus is not different from the above description.

Including hand-made sitestyle options in the text:

Pages with default sitestyle have URLs in which the sitestyle is not specifically defined, e.g.:
http://yoursite/index.php?page_id=1&style_id=

As soon as a hand-made reference to a specific sitestyle is included in the URL, e.g.:
http://yoursite/index.php?page_id=1&style_id=2

the page concerned and all standard pages subsequently visited will be displayed in that sitestyle. Even in a complex site, no matter whether pages with a fixed sitestyle are visited in between.

The hand-made references can be thoroughly simplified by utilizing the 'Topic' menu. The above reference would e.g. become:
home&style_id=2

For examples of including such internal hyperlinks in the text, see: Working with HTML.
