Menu 'Topic'

In short

  • Function

  • In the 'Topic' menu, the title of a subject (topic) can be linked up with a page, to offer a more practical and user-friendly alternative for long URLs.

In database-oriented websites, QwikZite non-excepted, the applied URLs are often very large as all components of the webpage are incorporated in the URL.
Long URLs reduce promotion for your site, as they make it virtually impossible for acquaintances to recommend certain pages to others:
    • If the URL is too long to show in the address field of the browser, many users won't know how to select it.

    • If the URL is too long to fit on one line in an email, most recipients won't know how to glue the pieces back together.
The webpage you are visiting right now has originally the URL:
    http://www.qwikzite.net/index.php?page_id=25&style_id=

By linking up the topic 'menutopic' with the page, the page will become accessible as well at the URL:
    http://www.qwikzite.net/menutopic

You can define multiple topics referring to the same page.

  • Frontend

  • When opening a page by means of clicking a button, the simplified URL will be displayed in the address field of the browser.

If multiple topics are linked up with a page, the alphabetically first topic will be displayed in the address field.

    Points for attention

  • Transforming URLs into hyperlinks in the text

  • Including an URL in a text doesn't make it an active hyperlink.
With HTML code, URLs can be transformed into hyperlinks, to be included at any place in QwikZite where you have the opportunity for text-input.

For examples and further information about using HTML, see: Working with HTML.

Explanatory notes to the input fields
