Menu 'Button'


In short

  • Function


  • In the 'button' menu, text-oriented buttons are added to the site to make the various pages accessible.
    You can make multiple sets of buttons if you want to divide up the site in sections.

  • Frontend


  • The buttons are displayed in the BUTTON AREA in the left part of the webpage.

  • Structure of the site


  • The simplicity or complexity of working with buttons has much to do with the kind of site you want to develop. As part of the navigation system of the site, in the 'Button' menu you have to choose whether a button belongs to a specific button set or otherwise.

    It is advised first to read the pages Structure of the site and Working with buttons.




    Explanatory notes to the input fields
    ID:The ID (identification number of the button) is automatically generated.
    Working title:The working title is not visible at the frontend, but is an important tool. At the frontend the buttons are listed in alphabetic order of working title.

    Tip 1:
    It is useful to include numbers ánd text in the working titles, e.g.:
    001 Home
    100 Information
    200 Contact
    etc.
    Don't use consecutive numbers. In the above series of working titles, for instance, you still can insert a new button 150 Xxxxx beween the buttons 100 and 200 very easily.

    Tip 2:
    It is useful to synchronize the numbering of pages with the numbering of buttons. It helps you keeping overview.
    Button title:This title is displayed as text at the frontend.

    If the title doesn't fit within the defined width of the BUTTON AREA, the text will jump to a next line.
    Belongs to page:
    • If you want to make a simple site with 1 level of buttons:
      - All buttons: choose nó page or select the homepage.
    • If you are making a site with 2 levels of buttons:
      - Buttons of level 1: select the homepage.
      - Buttons of level 2: select the 'parent page' at level 1.

    Refers to page:Select the page to be opened when visitors click the button.
    Visible on website:By activating or inactivating this checkbox, you can make the button visible or unvisible at the frontend.
    Visible on ALL pages:By activating this checkbox, the button will be displayed on all pages, no matter what button set the button belongs to.
    • It is common usage to make the 'Home' button visible on all pages, to avoid that visitors land at a dead end.

    • When making a simple site with 1 level of buttons, you can activate this checkbox for all buttons.
