Working with backgrounds
Background images for the full webpage or parts of the page can be added in the 'Sitestyle' menu. As the name indicates, the images are displayed as background of text and normal images.
Behaviour of background images
When an image is applied as 'background image', it automatically gets the following behaviour:
The image is always displayed in true size.
The display of the image is repeated.
Beneath, the results are displayed when the above image is applied as background image for an area lárger and smáller than the image respectively.

Requirements to background images
From the above example it becomes obvious that background images shall comply with the following requirements:
- Option 1: The image shall be larger than the area it is supposed to cover.
- Option 2: When display is repeated, top and left border color or pattern shall correspond with bottom and right border color or pattern, in order to ensure a swift join.
Economical use
 When applying a background image to a large area, the file size of the image is often a decisive factor (see the explanation in: Working with images).
It is therefore advisable to exploit the repeating behavour of background images for the purpose of creating the most economical image size.
To create the adjacently displayed sitestyle in QwikZite (reduced size, click to enlarge), only the 6 images below (true size) were needed.
They have a small file size (all together only 1.5 kB) and can much easier be constructed than a complicated background image for the whole webpage. Extra advantage: the width and height of the various parts of the sitestyle are still variable.
 
   
Specific background images
A lot of handicraft is performed around the world for creating specific background images. Searching the web will give a lot of results.
The image above is applied for creating a gaily border of sunflowers.
Even more sophisticated is the image above, joining swiftly in both directions when repeatedly shown.
